Krichevsky Scholarship Guidelines

The late Arthur Krichevsky was a long time resident of Portland, Oregon. He was very involved at his congregation, Shaarie Torah, where he contributed many volunteer hours helping with Shabbat programming as well as other Judaic courses taught there. He especially enjoyed working with the children that went to Portland Jewish Academy (formerly Hillel Academy). This memorial fund will provide scholarships in memory of Arthur Krichevsky.
The Arthur Krichevsky Memorial Scholarship Fund is a fund that provides Jewish scholarships to Oregon residents who show interest in pursuing Jewish learning through qualified programs offered by accredited educational institutions and/or experiencing the meaningfulness of Jewish culture through qualified programs offered in the United States or abroad.

Priority of Consideration
The Arthur Krichevsky Memorial Scholarship Committee will give greater consideration to applicants showing the highest levels of commitment to Jewish study, community service,and/or outreach.Applicants will be given priority of consideration based on the categories listed below in the following order:
  1. Jewish Day Schools in Portland
  2. Other local Jewish educational programs (i.e.Board of Rabbis/Jewish Federation of Portland's Teen Israel Experience program).
  3. Other accredited institutions and/or programs outside of Portland.(This category will be given lesser consideration relative to the first two listed above it).
Please note that the majority of scholarship dollars will be allocated to the first two categories. Qualified applicants living elsewhere in the United States or abroad will be given the least consideration.
