Given the profound changes in Jewish community and family life, Gesher seeks to promote an understanding that Jewish life can be a vital resource to modern living, providing nourishment, joy, Torah learning, and a more vital connection to community life. Gesher includes the widest spectrum of observance: from traditional seeking Jews to secular, disaffected Jews. Gesher seeks to build bridges to Jewish life. The Hebrew word Gesher means “bridge.” As community, Gesher presents a framework of welcome for newcomers, singles, and intermarried families.
